How can you help?

No matter what age you are, you can help stop this horrible issue. If you want to get involved and help animal abuse come to an end, you can. One way of helping is by visiting an animal abuse organization website, such as ASPCA, PAWS, and many others. If you visit this website, you can donate money that can help these poor animals. Even if you can only donate a dollar, it will still make a difference. Also, you can adopt pets who were abused and help change their lives forever. You can be saving animals' lives.

If you witness animal abuse being done, you can report it. You can either call an animal abuse organization or fill out a form. For example, you can call NJSPCA at 800-582-5979, or fill out their online form. 

What is Animal Abuse?

Whether you call it animal abuse, animal cruelty, or animal neglect, it is all the same. It is when someone hurts and animal or mistreats it. You may be thinking, why would someone would want to hurt an animal? In some cases, people abuse animals to show control or power. In other cases, some people abuse animals, because they have seen it before, so they want to abuse them as well. In the 12th century, it was a sport to have your dogs fight. This was the beginning of animal abuse. Over 100 million animals, varying from monkeys to dogs are killed in U.S. labs from testing. These poor animals suffer, even if they don't deserve it. This is becoming a problem, because even circuses abuse animals. In the Ringling Bros Circus, there are about 18 elephants suffering. What did they do to deserve this? Not only are they abused while they are performing, but when they are traveling they are crammed into boxcars for up to 100 hours straight. In addition, horses get abused all the time. For example, if you have been to New York, you may observe that horses have to pull people around the city, like a car would. Not only do they have to lug around a ton of weight, but they have to dodge traffic, and walk on the hard roads all day. Animal abuse needs to come to an end. It's not fair for the innocent animals who don't deserve it.
